Just one of those days…

And I know what you’re thinking.   This is not a bad one.  I am sure everyone has heard those sayings like ‘oh I am just having one of those days’ or ‘someone has the case of the Mondays.’  Yeah I want to punch that guy in the face.  Not just for being dumb but for saying this to me on a Thursday.  Sorry off track.  It is just one of those days today, but in a semi-good, semi-refreshing way.  I woke up and got some phone calls from some demanding people (thats all you need to know about them).  But this morning they were quite pleasant and we got along very well so that was a good thing.   Then I walked down stairs to my clean kitchen which took me all day yesterday to do.   And you have to admit, having a clean house can always raise moral.

I have had breakfast, my morning cup or 7 of coffee.  And its only 10 am.  A good start.  Oh did I mention I am on vacation until Monday as well?   Well, I am.  I hope to use this time to catch up on some writing.  I know this is writing, but I am looking to tackle some bigger issues I think.  I am definitely not pretentious enough to sit here and think you the reader wants to read about what I do everyday.  So if there is something you would be interested in reading about please let me know and I will do my best to cover it.
Keep reading, keep enjoying.
When I sat down to write this blog, it didn’t really have much of a beginning and it seems now not much of a end either.  Oh well!

Potential Bosses want to read about…

So the time in my life has come once again.  You know, that time where you think you are bored with the job you have and want to jump start a brand new career making ridiculously more than you did in your previous job.  I know; sounds crazy.  That’s not the story here.  The story here is what job hunting sites like Jobarchitect.com (obviously not the real name, but I think you can figure it out) are asking from you in your profiles.   Sure, they ask for all the normals things; name, address, phone numbers, college education and years of experience.  What I found interesting was they asked for the url’s of any social networking websites I was affiliated with, ie. Blogs, Myspace.

The interesting thing here is that I have heard a lot of statistics coming from colleges review boards saying that some of them look at your myspace and look at your facebook profiles and they can have negative outcomes on your college application.  So how do avoid this?  Do we really have to maintain a professional demeanor at all times?  Is Big Brother always watching us?  And the answer could be yes or no for both of those questions.  And depending on what job you currently have, than Big Brother is definitely watching.
As I tend to do in a lot of my entries, I have done so once again.  I got off topic.  This was not supposed to be a negative entry against the man or corporate american.  My goal of this was to let you know that your social websites could be beneficial to a future career.  Although, this does mean that pictures from last year’s Wet T-shirt contest or the picture of you holding the trophy for longest keg stand should probably stay off your profile.
I am not trying to preach, only because I just figured this out.  All these websites are free to us.  We can use them to reconnect with friends, post our blogs, or leave bumper stickers on other people’s profiles.  Why not use them to better ourselves?  Why not use them to show off how qualified you are for a position.  You need to use this sites to your advantage.
So did I include my blog on my career profile?  I sure did!!
And I understand tomorrow is not promised, have fun today.  I get it, but we still need to prepare for tomorrow because it is a gift that we even have a say as to what tomorrow might bring.

Early Morning Madness

Well actually no madness at all, I just the title was catchy.  Been pretty boring around here lately.  But I like that.  I don’t have to answer to anyone (most of the time) and I get to just relax.  Things are changing!!  And I am definitely ready for them!!  Until next time remember….

Empty glasses can always be refilled, but a broken glass quenches no thirst.   Think about it.

And the new President is…

I wonder how many Americans collectively crapped their pants last night as Barack Obama was elected president.  Or how many were awaked by screaming supporters?  Hehe…

It will be an interesting next four years.  However, almost 70% of the rest of the world were looking forward to seeing Obama elected president.  This could help us in the long run.
Just remember this one thing; do not be mad if the one you voted for didn’t get elected.  Just be glad they gave you a vote.  Be glad you are an American!

Its been awhile…

First of all, I would like to apologize to all my 3 readers.  And that might be overestimating a bit.  Nonetheless, I have been gone for too long.  With that in mind, a lot has gone on since my last entry.  There was the World Series, Brian Westbrooks come back, Halloween, and a last ditch effort of making the team (I will explain later).

Life has been pretty good since the Phillies won the World Series.  It seems good things just spark other good things.  So needless to say; things are good.  I was reminded oh so subtly last night (by maybe one of those good things) that I have not written in awhile.  So here I am.  I have my coffee in front of me and God knows how many left over Halloween Snickers Fun Bars in my belly.   Where to start…
To start off, I want to give the disclaimer that I have this, probable, misconception that people actually read this.  So if you would like set me straight and prove me wrong please do.  Leave comments!!
Ok so we already know the Phillies won.  A season filled with stress and anticipation.  A season that would been nothing special without the latter.  There was a lot of late nights staying up and watching the playoffs.  Not to mention the 49 hour rain delay.  But because of the wins, they were all worth it!!  And in the end, I may have even adopted a new Phillies fan to the club.  She is not worth saving when it comes to football, but I will take what I can get.
Then there was Halloween.  I obviously had to go as a Phillie celebrating the championship right?  I even had my goggles on.  I am still not sure if they were supposed to block the champagne or all the haters.  Oh well….
So making the team…
The guys decided it would be fun to go play football the day after the party.  Not bad, considering once we were done it did smell like a stadium with spilled beer and rotten nachos.
If you remember back, I was forced to put the Bonney to rest.  But fortunately salvation came in the form of a Nissan.  Not too shabby.  I am not one that thinks the car makes the man, so I have no idea what my car says about me.  Although the stickers would suggest I support Local Movement, S & A and PBH.   Good enough for me.
To all you readers, I thank you.  I thank you for keeping me focused.  I thank you new Phillies’ fans for making me happy.  The more the merrier.
Also, one last thing.  Life is tough, that is a no brainer.  But you don’t have to spend it alone.  Allow yourself to be loved.
Carl Reiner said it best-
Lust is easy.  Love is hard.  Like is most important.
